Growing Up

I think it is just the weirdest thing.
We start off small only to get big and create more small ones.
Why do we do both, why not just one or the other. Always big or always little. I suppose somewhere in the middle would be best.

I try to see in sepia
No colors, only tones of golden filmy brown
I deny colors
And pretend that every thing is simple
How do I remember the goal is the process
Never complete
Never achieved
Yet not trying is unrepentant failure.
But still I want what I cannot have
I cannot have it, for it doesn't exist

I guess my focus is off.

  1. Growing up is one of the most painful things I've ever had to do.

But Sara, love, imagine all the colors you miss looking at things through sepia colored glasses.

  2. PS
I love that you called me Fin.

Love the new blog look, especially the header image.

  3. I love growing up.
Hated those horrible tweeny years though

  4. Sad to think that never, ever again will I be 6. Or 10. Or 14. Growing up is a tragic process. In the words of Ferris Bueller, "Life goes by pretty fast sometimes. If you don't stop and look around, you might just miss it."

Awesome post. I actually do see in sepia, you know. It's a congenital disorder, so...yeah.

  5. Wow Christopher, I didn't know that existed. I appreciate the quote as well, good movie.

Alice, I'm glad you loved it. I try, but it still makes me sad.

And out of the void a voice came.
